Elderly man missing in Simo after berry-picking trip

An elderly man has gone missing in Simo after leaving for a berry-picking trip on Tuesday afternoon. The Lapland Police report that the man, who departed from Ranuantie toward the Sankajärvi area at approximately 4:00 PM, has not returned home (MTV Uutiset; Iltalehti).

The missing man is described as 170 centimeters tall, slender, and walks with a hunched posture. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a jacket with blue and white colors (MTV Uutiset). Authorities urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the emergency number 112 (Iltalehti).

The search effort involves both the police and the voluntary rescue service, according to Iltalehti. The man’s last known location was the Sankajärvi area, where he was reportedly heading to pick berries.
