Ryde e-scooter data breach affects over 900,000 Finnish customer accounts, authorities warn of fraud risks

The Norwegian electric scooter company Ryde has confirmed a data breach affecting all of its customer accounts, including approximately 935,000 user accounts in Finland. MTV Uutiset reports that a single customer may hold multiple accounts, meaning the total number of affected individuals could be lower than the account count. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, 2 August, involved an external party gaining access to and copying customer data from the company’s systems (Helsingin Sanomat, Yle).
