Finland Meets EU Deficit Rules This Year but Government Rejects New Adjustments Amid Fiscal Risks
Finland is on track to comply with the EU’s excessive deficit procedure this year, but the government’s current measures may fall short in 2027 and 2028, according to a new report by the Economic Policy Council. The council, which assesses Finland’s fiscal policy at the request of the Ministry of Finance, warns that the next government could inherit a difficult financial situation if no further adjustments are made.
