Finland’s state debt interest payments are projected to reach €4.3 billion next year, a figure equivalent to the total operating expenses of the police over four years, Yle’s operations for approximately seven years, or current subsidies to social and health care (sote) organisations for about 16 years. Finance Minister Riikka Purra (Finns Party) highlighted the growing burden of interest expenses during a press conference on Tuesday, noting that the estimate for 2025 has worsened slightly compared to earlier projections.
