Homemade Bomb Suspected at Mustasaari Daycare Site, Police Plan Controlled Detonation

A suspected improvised explosive device was found on the grounds of the former Veikkala school in Mustasaari, prompting a police response. The discovery was first reported by Vasabladet, with authorities confirming that a passerby alerted them to the object on Friday.

The old school building, which now operates as a daycare center, remains under police supervision. According to Yle, bomb disposal experts are set to detonate the object in a controlled manner by 2:00 PM today. Both Yle and Iltalehti emphasize that the situation is not considered dangerous to the public or those outside the immediate area.

Police have secured the site, and no further details about the device’s origin or potential motives have been disclosed. The incident is under investigation.
