Issues with conscription letter distribution for Swedish-speaking conscripts in Uusimaa

The Uusimaa Regional Office is investigating problems with the distribution of conscription letters, particularly affecting Swedish-speaking conscripts. The Army has reported that multiple cases of undelivered letters have been identified in the region.

Yle reports that the Uusimaa office is actively looking into the cause of the issue. According to Ilta-Sanomat, the Army has issued a bulletin acknowledging the problem and urging affected individuals to take alternative steps to ensure their conscription process proceeds as planned.

Swedish-speaking conscripts born in 2008 who have not received their conscription letters are advised to follow specific guidelines. These include booking an appointment for a preliminary health examination, completing an online questionnaire for service and health assessment, and attending their home municipality’s conscription event as scheduled in the original notice.

The Army’s bulletin stresses the importance of attending the conscription event, regardless of whether the letter was received (Ilta-Sanomat).
