Incident Details

The incident took place on April 11 at Esperi Care’s mental health and substance abuse rehabilitation unit in Turku, where the suspect resided (IS). According to the police, an argument escalated between the woman and the man at the woman’s apartment within the facility.

During the confrontation, the woman stabbed the man multiple times with a knife, leading to his death despite resuscitation attempts (MTV Uutiset, IS). The police suspect the man had assaulted the woman before she fatally stabbed him (MTV Uutiset).

The Southwest Finland Police have concluded the preliminary investigation, confirming that no other individuals were involved in the altercation (IS). The suspect, who has been in custody since April, admitted to stabbing the man and has not been released (IS).

The case has now been forwarded to the prosecutor for consideration of charges (IS). Esperi Care’s unit, where the incident occurred, provides 24-hour supported housing and rehabilitation services for individuals undergoing mental health and substance abuse treatment (IS).
