The annual Perseid meteor shower, one of the most spectacular celestial events of the year, is set to reach its peak this week, offering stargazers an exceptional opportunity to observe shooting stars. According to the Astronomical Association Ursa, this year’s display will be particularly favourable, as the Moon will not interfere with visibility (MTV Uutiset).

The best time to view the meteor shower will be in the early hours of Thursday morning, when up to 60 meteors per hour may be visible under ideal conditions. While the Perseids appear to radiate from the direction of the Perseus constellation—hence their name—the meteors can be seen across the entire night sky (Yle).

Both Yle and MTV Uutiset highlight that the Perseids are a regular and highly anticipated event, known for their bright and frequent meteors. No special equipment is required to enjoy the spectacle, though clear skies and minimal light pollution will enhance the experience.
