Conscripts of Guard Jaeger Regiment to take military oath at Helsinki Olympic Stadium
The conscripts of the Guard Jaeger Regiment’s July intake will conclude their initial service period with a ceremonial military oath and pledge at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium this Thursday. The event marks the formal commitment of the 2/26 intake batch, who began their service in July.
The ceremony will include the reading of the military pledge and oath, followed by a march-past. According to a Finnish Army press release, the commander of the Guard Jaeger Regiment, Colonel Ari Lehmuslehti, will receive the parade. The regiment’s chief of staff, Lieutenant Colonel Vesa Volanen, will command the parade troops (Ilta-Sanomat).
The military pledge will be read aloud by Jukka-Pekka Ujula, the City of Helsinki’s Director of Administration, while the military oath will be recited by Ari Kuokkanen, Director of the Olympic Stadium (Ilta-Sanomat). The event is open to the public, allowing family, friends, and the general public to attend.
MTV Uutiset reports that the ceremony will be held in a highly unique setting, as the Olympic Stadium has not been a common venue for such military events. Both the military oath and the subsequent march-past will be broadcast live, with Ilta-Sanomat’s coverage beginning at 11:15 and MTV Uutiset’ at 11:50.
