The North Savo District Court carried out an unusual on-site inspection in Vesanto today, revisiting key locations connected to the case of Mika Moring, 54, who is accused of the manslaughter of Saara Arva, 35. The inspection, requested by the prosecutor, aims to determine whether Arva could have reached the remote peninsula where her remains were discovered in April 2024 on her own. Yle reports that the prosecutor believes Moring transported Arva or her body by boat to the discovery site, while the defense argues she may have walked there herself. Iltalehti adds that the defense counsel, Kaarle Gummerus, contends the terrain inspection demonstrated the peninsula could be reached through the forest without major difficulties. Yle further notes that the prosecutor presented a video of the discovery site during the inspection, emphasizing its remoteness and suitability for concealment.
