Abnoy Oy’s Child Protection Units Suspended for New Placements Amid Safety and Welfare Concerns
Former and current employees of Abnoy Oy, a private provider of child protection services, have reported widespread safety risks, understaffing, and systemic failures in the company’s residential units in Pirkanmaa, South Ostrobothnia, and Kanta-Häme. Interviews conducted by Yle’s MOT program, along with official documents obtained through information requests, reveal a pattern of violence, drug trafficking, and neglect of both staff and youth welfare across multiple regions (Yle). Two wellbeing services counties have now suspended new placements of children in Abnoy’s facilities until their operations are verified (Yle).
