A worker sustained serious injuries on Friday afternoon after falling approximately four meters from the roof of a grain silo onto its floor during demolition work in Mäntsälä. The incident occurred on Sarolantie, prompting an immediate response from the Central Uusimaa Rescue Department and emergency medical services.

According to the Rescue Department, the worker was rescued by dismantling the silo’s sheet metal wall. On-duty fire chief Juha Gröhn (Yle) explained that bolts securing a sheet metal element were removed to create an opening, allowing emergency crews to quickly reach the patient through a maintenance hatch. The injured worker was subsequently transported to hospital for treatment.

MTV Uutiset reports that the individual was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. The exact circumstances of the fall remain unclear, though both sources confirm the incident occurred during the silo’s demolition.
