Final Warm Weekend in Finland Brings Heatwave Days – But Cooling and Rain Set to Dominate the Week

Finland experienced a brief return of summer-like temperatures over the weekend, with heatwave conditions recorded in several regions. According to MTV Uutiset, southern and central Finland saw temperatures rise to around 20 degrees Celsius on Saturday, while Southwest Finland and other parts of Southern Finland, including Uusimaa and Pirkanmaa, exceeded the heat threshold of 25 degrees (Ilta-Sanomat). Ilta-Sanomat now confirms that heatwave temperatures were indeed reached over the weekend, with 35 heatwave days recorded nationwide this year—matching the typical annual average of 33–36 days. Residents of Hattula and Heinola experienced the most frequent heat, with local weather stations recording 16 days above 25 degrees.
