Track System Fault Disrupts Coastal Railway Services Between Kauklahti and Kauniainen
A fault in the track system has caused significant disruptions on the Coastal Railway between Kauklahti and Kauniainen, leading to cancellations and delays for both commuter and long-distance trains.
VR has confirmed that several commuter trains—specifically the A, E, and U services—have been canceled due to the issue. Ilta-Sanomat reports that the fault is under investigation, with no estimated repair time provided by Fintraffic Ltd. However, Yle cites Helsinki Region Transport as estimating that the fault may be resolved by 13:00.
The disruption has also impacted long-distance services. According to Yle, the IC951 train from Helsinki to Turku, originally scheduled to depart at 11:35, has been delayed by 29 minutes. VR has indicated that the train may still recover its schedule. Additionally, the connecting H-train service in Karjaa is waiting to accommodate transfer passengers from the delayed long-distance train.
