Stabbing in Kruunupyy leaves three injured, six foreign nationals detained
A violent altercation in Kruunupyy on Saturday evening resulted in at least three people being injured in a stabbing at a private residence in the town center. The incident prompted a swift police response, with six individuals detained in connection with the case.
The emergency call was made at approximately 21:30 on 15 August, after which police and emergency medical units arrived at the scene. Ilta-Sanomat reports that around ten officers were involved in the operation. Three of those detained sustained injuries from the stabbing and were taken to hospital for examination. However, their injuries were deemed minor, and they were later transferred into police custody (Ilta-Sanomat).
All six individuals detained—three of whom have been arrested while the other three were released—are foreign nationals and were intoxicated at the time of the incident, according to police (Iltalehti). Authorities suspect all six of attempted manslaughter, though the charges may still be revised as the preliminary investigation progresses. Iltalehti notes that police are working to clarify the sequence of events and the roles of each individual involved.
In addition to the stabbing-related charges, one suspect is facing allegations of aggravated drunk driving after attempting to leave the scene by car (Ilta-Sanomat). The investigation is ongoing, with police focusing on reconstructing the evening’s events.
