Police and Defence Forces conduct joint exercise in Espoo
On Tuesday, the Western Uusimaa Police and the Finnish Defence Forces carried out a joint exercise in Espoo, focusing on the use of force and interagency cooperation. The training, which began at around 12:00 and concluded by 18:00, took place in two key locations: in front of the Espoo main police station at Nihtisillankuja 4 and in the Kutojankulma area.
According to the police, the exercise involved the use of equipment and gear that deviate from standard police supplies, including Defence Forces material. Ilta-Sanomat reports that the training aimed to maintain proficiency in force usage and strengthen coordination between the police and the Defence Forces. The exercise was part of planned operational preparedness measures.
While the movement of bystanders in the area was not restricted, the police requested that participants be allowed to work undisturbed to prevent misunderstandings. Iltalehti quotes a police bulletin stating that the public should avoid interfering with the exercise to ensure safety and clarity during the training.
No disruptions to public movement were reported, and the exercise proceeded as scheduled.
