Sörnäinen metro station was closed on Tuesday morning following a malfunction in the station’s escalators, according to the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL). The closure affects one of the city’s busiest metro stations, causing disruptions for commuters.

HSL reports that metro trains will pass through Sörnäinen without stopping until the issue is resolved. The closure is expected to last until approximately 7:45 AM (Iltalehti). Ilta-Sanomat indicates an earlier estimated reopening time of 7:00 AM, though the discrepancy has not been clarified.

Passengers are advised to use nearby stations, including Kalasatama and Hakaniemi, as alternative travel options during the disruption. HSL has apologized for the inconvenience caused by the closure.
