Spot electricity prices in Finland reached unprecedented levels for the month of September on Wednesday, with significant fluctuations and record-high hourly rates. The cheapest rates were available in the early morning hours at around 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, while prices spiked to 25 cents per kilowatt-hour at 10 PM, marking the highest hourly price of the day. The VAT-inclusive average price for Wednesday settled at 16.47 cents per kilowatt-hour, a sharp increase from Tuesday’s average of 10.28 cents per kilowatt-hour and the highest daily average for the month (Iltalehti).
