Baby Born in Car Along Hämeentie in Tuusula
A newborn boy arrived unexpectedly in a car along Hämeentie in Tuusula on Wednesday morning, with paramedics from the Central Uusimaa Rescue Department assisting in the delivery. The baby was born in good health at 8:37 AM, according to a Facebook post by the rescue department.
The Central Uusimaa Rescue Department described the event as a "rare work task" for paramedics Heidi and Ghita, who attended the scene. The post included a photo of the newborn wearing a beanie from the rescue department. Ilta-Sanomat reports that both the mother and baby were later transported to the hospital for further examinations, and a medical helicopter also visited the scene to assess their well-being.
The rescue department extended warm congratulations to the family in their post. Iltalehti notes that the incident follows another unusual birth last week, when a baby was delivered on a VR train traveling from Helsinki to Vaasa. In that case, an ambulance met the train at Seinäjoki station to transfer the parents and newborn. A passenger who assisted in the delivery, identified as Tiina, told Iltalehti that medical staff confirmed the baby was doing well upon arrival.
