Heinola man sentenced to 9.5 years for fatal Independence Day drunk driving crash motivated by rage

The Päijät-Häme District Court has sentenced 30-year-old Santtu Oskari Poutanen to 9.5 years in prison for manslaughter and other offences committed on Independence Day in Heinola. The court ruled that Poutanen, who was heavily intoxicated with a blood alcohol level exceeding two per mil, deliberately drove his car into a group of pedestrians, killing a 20-year-old man.
