Ambulance and passenger car collide in Vaasa with no injuries
An ambulance and a passenger car were involved in a side collision in Vaasa on Thursday afternoon, with no injuries reported. The incident occurred at approximately 14:05 at the intersection of Huutoniementie and Melaniementie.
The ambulance was on an emergency run, transporting a patient to hospital care with lights and sirens in use, according to Magnus Raak, the on-duty fire chief of the Ostrobothnia Rescue Department (Iltalehti). The ambulance was traveling along Huutoniementie toward the city centre when the collision took place, while the passenger car was on Melaniementie (Ilta-Sanomat).
Three people were in the ambulance at the time of the accident: the driver, a healthcare worker, and the patient. The passenger car had only the driver (Iltalehti). Emergency medical services assessed the well-being of all individuals involved at the scene, and no injuries were reported (Ilta-Sanomat).
A second ambulance was dispatched to the scene to continue the patient’s transport to the hospital, and the transfer was completed successfully (Iltalehti). The original ambulance was able to continue its journey after the collision, but the passenger car was severely damaged and required towing (Ilta-Sanomat).
The incident did not cause any traffic disruptions (Ilta-Sanomat). Police are investigating the cause of the accident, though responsibility for the collision has not yet been determined (Iltalehti).
