Cyclist trapped under car freed by bystanders in Joensuu collision

A cyclist was trapped under a passenger car after a collision on Kettuvaara Road in Karsikko, Joensuu, on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred when the cyclist was crossing the road and was struck by the vehicle, according to the North Karelia Rescue Department.

The cyclist became pinned beneath the car, but bystanders at the scene acted quickly to lift the vehicle, freeing the injured person from the worst of the compression. Yle reports that the rescue department received the accident alert shortly after 3:00 PM. Rescue personnel later arrived and performed the final lift of the car, allowing the cyclist to be fully extracted.

The cyclist was transported by ambulance to the central hospital for further treatment. The North Karelia Rescue Department praised the bystanders for their "crucially important actions" before emergency services arrived (MTV Uutiset).
