Escaped calf causes traffic disruption in Ylöjärvi
A calf that escaped from a trailer at a service station in Elovainio, Ylöjärvi, caused temporary traffic disruptions on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred around midday when the animal broke free and began darting among vehicles and into a nearby industrial area.
Police were forced to close Vaasantie in both directions for a short period to ensure public safety. Ilta-Sanomat (IS) reports that the calf posed hazardous situations in traffic before being captured a little over an hour later. The successful capture was the result of cooperation between a police patrol and several bystanders who assisted in the effort.
According to MTV Uutiset, the calf was visibly exhausted and stressed from its escape. An on-duty municipal veterinarian was called to assess its condition and confirmed that the animal was in good health. Following the inspection, the calf was reloaded into the trailer, allowing its journey to continue toward its original destination.
The Police of Eastern Finland expressed gratitude to the bystanders who helped secure the animal. No injuries or significant damage were reported in connection with the incident.
