Man Falls from Balcony in Savonlinna, Police Suspect Crime
A man fell from the balcony of an apartment building in Nätki, Savonlinna, on Monday, 15 June, with police suspecting a criminal act. The incident occurred between 12:00 and 13:00, when two men were present in the apartment. One of them fell approximately five meters from the first-floor balcony to the ground.
A bystander alerted emergency services at around 13:00. The police suspect the other man in the apartment of aggravated assault and aggravated bodily injury, though he has not been arrested. Both the suspect and the victim are under the age of 40, and no details about the victim’s current condition have been released. Authorities have not yet been able to question the victim.
Detective Chief Inspector Jari Lehto, the lead investigator, stated that the case remains open and declined to provide further details on the sequence of events. "We consider it possible that the person may have been pushed by an outsider," Lehto said (Iltalehti). He described the situation as unclear, stating, "It is very difficult to say what this is about" (Ilta-Sanomat).
