A fire erupted in an apartment building in Vantaa’s Koivukylä district on Sunday evening, prompting an emergency response and the evacuation of residents. The alarm was raised shortly before 8:00 PM, with firefighters arriving on the scene to tackle the blaze.

MTV Uutiset reports that eight rescue units were deployed to extinguish the fire. A witness at the scene, identified as Jimi, described a chaotic situation, stating that residents—including children and pets—were seen trapped in windows, waving for help. "People here are quite panicked," Jimi told MTV Uutiset, adding that firefighters were actively evacuating the building around 8:15 PM.

Ilta-Sanomat confirms that the fire originated in the Rasinrinne area of Vantaa, with the rescue department receiving the alarm at approximately 7:45 PM. While the flames were extinguished, crews continued cleanup and smoke extraction operations at the site. No personal injuries were reported, though the police are investigating the cause of the fire.

Footage provided by an Ilta-Sanomat reader showed thick smoke spreading into the building’s courtyard, with dozens of onlookers gathered nearby. The video also captured at least two fire trucks and rescue personnel at the scene.
