Police investigate attempted homicide after shooting in Mikkeli
Police in Eastern Finland are investigating a shooting in Mikkeli’s Peitsari district as an attempted homicide. The incident occurred on Saturday at around 22:00, according to a press release from the Eastern Finland Police (Yle).
The victim, who was seriously injured, remains in stable condition (Yle, Helsingin Sanomat). A firearm was used in the attack, though authorities have not disclosed details about the weapon (Yle).
Multiple police units were dispatched to the scene, where officers cordoned off the area with tape and temporarily closed the road. The cordon was removed on Sunday (Yle).
One person has been detained and will be presented for remand, while several others have been arrested in connection with the case.
