Tram and taxi collide in Pasila, causing traffic disruptions
A collision between a tram and a taxi in Pasila on Wednesday afternoon caused temporary disruptions to public transport services. The incident occurred at the intersection of Ratapihantie and Pasila Bridge shortly before 3:00 PM, when tram line 2 was turning right from Ratapihantie onto Pasila Bridge and struck a taxi (Ilta-Sanomat).
HSL communications representative Saana Lehtinen confirmed the incident, stating that tram line 2, which normally passes by Messukeskus, was forced to take a detour through West Pasila due to the accident. Iltalehti reports that while disruptions persisted, the situation was expected to return to normal shortly. HSL indicated that tram services should resume their regular routes by 4:00 PM (Ilta-Sanomat).
Traffic congestion was reported at the accident site following the collision. Lehtinen noted that in such cases, vehicles are typically cleared from the road quickly, as Helsinki City Transport has its own recovery vehicles for these situations (Iltalehti).
