Strike at Finnish universities of applied sciences postponed to 11 June
The Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ) has postponed its planned strike at universities of applied sciences by two weeks. The 24-hour work stoppage, originally scheduled for 28 May, will now take place on 11 June.
The decision to delay the strike was made by Minister of Labour Matias Marttinen (National Coalition Party), according to a statement from the National Conciliator on the messaging service X (MTV Uutiset). The strike was set to coincide with entrance examination day at the affected institutions (Yle).
OAJ issued the strike warning to all universities of applied sciences last week, citing ongoing labour disputes (MTV Uutiset). Further details on the reasons behind the industrial action have not been disclosed in the available reports.
