Social Security Minister Sanni Grahn-Laasonen (National Coalition Party, NCP) will today begin family leave from her ministerial duties. She will be temporarily replaced by NCP Member of Parliament and varatuomari Karoliina Partanen, Yle reports.

The transition will take place during the President of the Republic’s presentation. Following the event, adjustments will be made to ministers’ deputies and the composition of ministerial working groups, according to MTV Uutiset.

Partanen was selected as Grahn-Laasonen’s substitute last Thursday. Yle notes that she had been considered a strong candidate for the position in advance. Grahn-Laasonen is expected to return to her role at the turn of the year.

In a press conference last week, Partanen outlined her priorities, stating that she aims to advance the entrepreneurs’ pension reform. She also highlighted the need to address the adequacy of shelter spaces for victims of family and domestic violence, explore flexibilities in social security, and consider restrictions on social media use (Yle).
