Police conclude investigation into assault on teacher at Nakkila school
The Southwest Finland Police have completed a preliminary investigation into an assault on a teacher at Nakkila Comprehensive School in November 2025. The case involved a pupil under the age of 15, who is suspected of hitting and kicking a teacher supervising recess in the head before leaving the scene. The police located the youth shortly afterward in the vicinity of the school.
The investigation was conducted to assess potential civil law claims, with the incident classified as aggravated assault. However, the case will not proceed to prosecution review, as the suspected perpetrator is not criminally liable due to their age. The police have stated that no further details will be disclosed, citing the youth’s age (Yle, Ilta-Sanomat).
Shock in a small community
The incident has left the local community of Nakkila, a municipality of around 5,000 residents, deeply affected. The comprehensive school and upper secondary school together have approximately 300 pupils. Ilta-Sanomat reported that the atmosphere in the town was one of shock following the assault.
Local resident Toni Poikulainen, whose child is taught by the victim, described the teacher as a professional with a long career. "He is my own child’s class teacher. A professional teacher with a long career behind him," Poikulainen said.
Another resident, Riitta Pessi, whose children attend the school, echoed the sentiment, noting that in a small community, many people know the school staff personally. "The teacher is familiar; everyone here knows all the teachers," she said (Ilta-Sanomat).
