Police Seek Public Assistance in Locating Missing Man from Haapajärvi
Police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating a man who went missing in Haapajärvi last May. The last confirmed sighting of the man, born in 1963, was on 17 May 2025 as he cycled along Joenrantie in Haapajärvi. Authorities have released an image of the missing individual, showing him on his bicycle at the time of the sighting (Ilta-Sanomat).
The man is described as approximately 183 centimetres tall with a sturdy build. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black jacket featuring a triangular logo and the text "panostus- ja räjäytyspalvelu" on the back. His attire also included black-and-grey camouflage-patterned trousers, a brownish field-coloured sweatshirt, and green unlined rubber boots in size 43. He was also wearing a worn dark cap, which may have had the text "crazyland" on it (Ilta-Sanomat, Iltalehti).
Police are particularly interested in any reports of the man’s movements between 17 and 19 May 2025, especially in the Oksava area of Haapajärvi. Additionally, authorities request that any clothing resembling the described items, if found in the terrain, be reported (Ilta-Sanomat).
Authorities have stated that they do not suspect a crime in connection with the disappearance (Ilta-Sanomat, Iltalehti).
