Woman Dies in Midsummer’s Eve House Fire in Kuopio
A woman has died after a detached house fire near Vehmersalmi in Kuopio on Midsummer’s Eve. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 PM, according to the Eastern Finland Police Department (Iltalehti).
The house was occupied by a man and a woman, both of whom were inside when the fire started. The pair initially exited the building to the yard, but the woman later re-entered the house in an attempt to extinguish the flames. She became trapped inside, and emergency services were unable to rescue her (Ilta-Sanomat).
Multiple units from the rescue department, emergency medical services, and police were dispatched to the scene. Authorities have confirmed that preliminary investigations indicate no suspicion of criminal activity (Iltalehti).
