Fire destroys roof and outbuilding of former Hotel Luovatar in Kurikka
A fire at the former Hotel Luovatar in Kurikka, Southern Ostrobothnia, caused significant damage to the property on Wednesday evening. The building, now used as an Airbnb, had no guests at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.
Emergency services received multiple calls about the fire near Highway 3 in the early evening. By the time firefighters arrived, the blaze had already spread to the roof, producing intense smoke. The Southern Ostrobothnia Rescue Department confirmed that the fire destroyed the hotel’s roof structures and an outbuilding (MTV Uutiset).
Firefighting efforts successfully brought the fire under control, though extinguishing and clearance operations continued late into the evening. The rescue operation also resulted in water damage to the building (Yle).
The property, previously known as Hotel Luovattare, is currently operating as short-term rental accommodation (MTV Uutiset). Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
