Finland’s long-running trade policy magazine Kauppapolitiikka will release its final issue in June 2026, marking the end of a 93-year publication history, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs has announced. The magazine, which began in 1933 as a platform for economic and trade updates, will cease operations as part of a broader centralisation of government communications under the Prime Minister’s Office (Ministry for Foreign Affairs).

The last edition will feature reflections from former editors-in-chief spanning past decades, offering insights into Finland’s evolving role in the global economy. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen, in an interview with the magazine, underscored the importance of collective efforts in trade promotion, highlighting specialist technological ecosystems as key to future prosperity (Ministry for Foreign Affairs).

Despite geopolitical challenges, the final issue will also examine a contrasting trend: the European Union’s progress in removing trade barriers through agreements with partners, creating access to a combined market of 2.6 billion people (Daily Finland). The magazine’s social media channels will close alongside its print and digital publication, though an archived version of its website will remain accessible for the time being.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to readers and contributors for their role in the magazine’s nearly century-long journey.
